Wayne E. Foster, 78, died Thursday, May 26, 2005. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1115 Grand Ave. in West Des Moines with burial at 3:30 p.m. in Greenfield Cemetery.

Wayne was born and raised in Greenfield, Iowa. He graduated in 1945 from Greenfield High School and from Iowa State University in 1951. He enjoyed a lifelong career as a civil engineer and was a US Army World War II veteran.

Wayne loved spending time with his family. He was known for helping others and he liked to work outdoors and on woodworking projects.

Wayne will be missed by his wife, Betty; sons, Steven Foster of Boulder, CO and Thomas (Patty) Foster of Urbandale; daughter, Kathryn Foster of Urbandale; step-sons, Donald and David Ricketts; step-daughters, Patricia Lee, Linda Nielson and Susan Ricketts; four grandchildren, Robyn, Lisa, Jillian and Courtney Foster; six step-grandchildren, Emily, Justin and Jonathon Ricketts, Jennifer Lee and Ann and Elizabeth Nielson; two great- grandchildren; two sisters, Helen (Bob) Beer of Panora and Veryl (Mert) Schweers of Greenfield and two brothers, Erwin (Vivian) Foster of Forrest City and Jerry (Mary) Foster of Normal, IL.

Family will greet friends following the service at the church for a time of food and fellowship.
