Wayne A. Ferris, 86, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2005. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 16 at First Church of the Open Bible, 2200 Beaver Avenue, Des Moines, IA. A memorial service will be held in the spring at the Methodist Church in Draper, SD, with interment in the family plot.

Wayne was born March 2, 1919 in Draper, SD. He attended grade and high school there, and Nettleton Commercial College in Sioux Falls. He worked in South Dakota and California for four years and during World War II, he went to Saudi Arabia to work for Arabian American Oil Company for two and a half years.

He attended Kansas City Art Institute for four years, graduating in 1951, and retired after 30 years with McDonnell Engineering Company in 1981.

He volunteered at Johnson County Library and enjoyed hobbies of reading, writing, music and gardening. Moving from Overland Park, KS, he lived at Calvin Community in Des Moines for the past four years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester B. and Ina A. Ferris and his siblings, Harley, Iva Rankin, Edwin and Lauren. He is survived by his four nephews, Delle, Ken, Alan and Mike Ferris; four nieces, Donna Katona, Beverly Channell, Myrna Weber, Linda Johnson; and their families.
