Kevin Paul Loyet, 49, of West Des Moines, died suddenly of a heart attack Saturday, December 10, 2005. Kevin’s family and friends mourn his loss. The body was cremated and memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Valley Evangelical Free Church, 4343 Fuller Road, West Des Moines.

Mr. Loyet was born in Des Moines, and lived here all his life. He was an insurance agent for The Dana Company, West Des Moines, where he was a loyal employee for 11 years. Kevin loved to play golf and sported a single-digit handicap, much to the dismay of his golfing buddies. He was rightfully proud of a career-best round of 67 at Des Moines Golf and Country Club, of which he was a member.

Kevin was a University of Iowa graduate, a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He was a member of the Chain Gang for West Des Moines Valley High School home football games, where he and Bennet Ely, his best friend for 35 years, carefully marked each and every down. A 1974 graduate of Des Moines Roosevelt High School, Kevin was an outstanding baseball, basketball and football athlete.

Kevin prized his wife, Lynzy and daughter, Mackenzie, a senior at West Des Moines Valley High School. Also left to honor Kevin’s memory are his mother, Virginia Loyet, West Des Moines; a brother, John Hobbs (Davia and niece Addie of Davenport); sister-in law and brother-in law, Diane and Lon Brewer (Clive); in-laws, Robert and Velma Rice (Janesville); aunt, Joan Powe (Creston), and cousins, Nancy (Bill) Caldwell (Hudson); Greg Powe (Las Cruces, NM); Cathy (Bob) Marshall (Spring Hill, KS). Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Paul, and a brother.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 13, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Valley Evangelical Free Church, 4343 Fuller Road, West Des Moines. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
