Mrs. Elaine M. Scott, 83, died Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2005 at West Des Moines Christian Church, 4501 Mills Civic Parkway, of which she was a member. The family will greet friends following the service for a time of food and fellowship.

Elaine graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids and received her graduate degree from Drake University. Elaine was a teacher and assistant principal at Clegg Park Elementary School for many years. After her retirement she substitute taught, tutored and volunteered her time at Clegg Park, where the Media Center there has been named after her. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, ISEA and the Rebekkah's. Elaine was an avid reader, loved music and her cats. She devoted her life to educating children and had given many hours of time and talent to her church. She will be missed by her son, Roger (Rachel) Scott of Des Moines; daughter, Susan Scott of West Des Moines; her granddaughters, Chloe and Alison Sokolov of Des Moines; and her sister, Frances Rigsby of Hobart, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest in 1966 and her step-son, Harold Scott.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. Private burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to The Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
