Edwin Pershing Martin
Edwin was born in Illinois and lived many years in Creston where he worked as a foreman at Gits Manufacturing. He served as a councilman and Mayor of Cromwell, Iowa for many years, was a US Army veteran, a POW in 1942 and was a corpsman and medic in the service. He enjoyed his family and friends with his daily goal to make someone smile-deep faith carried him many miles on his life's journey. He will deeply missed by his daughter, Vicki Martin and her husband, Raymond Day of Adel; son, Tony Martin and his wife, Sandy of Braddyville, Iowa; granddaughters, Sara Ann Day, Alisa Martin Lopez; grandson, David Martin; great-granddaughter, Ember Holloway and great grandson, Domenic Michael Lopez. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Martin in 1992; his sister, Helen Ruth; his brother, Bud; and his parents, Edwin and Gladys Welch Martin. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Mercy Hospice- 5820 Winwood Dr. in Johnston, Iowa or to St. John's Catholic Church -2405 302nd Street in Adel, Iowa. |
