Dixie Ann Richardson, 69, entered her eternal life on May 2, 2005 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center from complications of sepsis. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 10 at the West Des Moines United Methodist Church, 720 Grand Ave. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

Dixie was born January 11, 1936 in rural Guthrie County, Iowa, and was a longtime resident of West Des Moines. She was a graduate of Drake University, where she was involved with Delta Gamma sorority. Dixie was a dedicated educator, teacher and reading specialist for the West Des Moines Public School District.

Dixie was a member of the West Des Moines United Methodist Church, Valley Junction Order of the Eastern Star #305, Iowa State Education Association, MITSWITS and West Des Moines Women's Club. She enjoyed entertaining, golfing and always putting others before herself.

Dixie will be missed by her husband of 28 years, Charles A. Richardson; sons, Robert (Mary Jo) Brooks of West Des Moines, John Scott (Dacia) Brooks of Des Moines and Randall Brooks of Panora; stepson, Chris (Cynthia) Richardson of Columbus, OH; stepdaughter, Jill Richardson of Shakopee, MN; grandchildren, Jamie (Eric) Woods, Brandi Brooks, Mary Leanne Brooks, Ashlee Brooks, Heather Brooks, Bobby Brooks, Ryan Brooks and Jake Richardson; great-grandsons, Eric Scott Woods and Nolan Brooks; and "special daughters," Beth Zavala and Julie Lavacca. She was preceded in death by her parents, Deane and Maxine (Morrison) Davis; and her brother, Bill.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 9 at the West Des Moines United Methodist Church, with an Eastern Star service at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church, 720 Grand Ave., West Des Moines, IA 50265 or Western Hills Elementary School, 600 39th Street, West Des Moines, IA 50265.
