Blanche Rhinehart Blanche was born November 10, 1907 in Summersville, Missouri. She lived in Dallas Center, Des Moines and Waukee for the past 60 years. She taught school in Missouri before moving to Iowa, and graduated from Drake University and taught school in the Des Moines school system until her retirement in 1972. She was a volunteer at the Bidwell Riverside Center for many years, and volunteered as a tutor to elementary school children in Waukee until just a few years ago. She was a member of the Waukee United Methodist Church and the Mayflower Society. A beloved teacher and volunteer, she was recognized with the KCCI "Leading the Way" Award. Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Rhinehart, her parents, her sister, Lena Renfrow, and a great-grandson, Clinton Walrod. She will be missed by her two children, Lee Anna (Charles) Walrod and Robert (Barbara) Rhinehart; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Care, 7950 University, Des Moines, on Tuesday evening. Family will be present from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be on Wednesday, December 7 at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service. Memorials may be made to the Bidwell Riverside Center, 1203 Hartford, Des Moines, in loving memory of Blanche. |
