Robert F. Spain

Robert Francis Spain 78, died Tuesday at Kavanaugh on 56th St. of cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Cumming of which he was a member with burial to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Robert was born in Des Moines and spent all of his life in the Cumming area. A farmer and machine operator, Robert was very proud of his Irish heritage.

He was active in the Knights of Columbus and the Horseman’s Benevolent and protective Association.

Robert was an avid outdoorsman; He enjoyed deer and mushroom hunting, gardening, horse racing and baseball.

He will be missed by his wife of 59 years Dorothy, sons; Daniel P. (Joyce) and Robert Francis Jr. (Mary), a daughter; Marsha (Gene) Swinford, grandchildren; Jennifer (Ryan) St John, Collette Spain, Daniel E. (Lisa) Spain, Sara Spain and Robert Francis Spain III, great-grandchildren; Caleb Spain, Zachary Spain and Hannah St John. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Mollie Spain.

Visitation will take place 5 to 8 PM this evening at the Parish Hall in Cumming with a 7PM Rosary.
