Meredith DeGood

Meredith Jane DeGood, 75, died October 26, 2004 of a respiratory ailment at the Chautauqua Home in Charles City, where she had resided since July. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 30 at Windsor Presbyterian Church, with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.

Meredith was born in Morning Sun, Iowa and had lived in Des Moines for the last 27 years. She was a former school teacher, the retired owner of The Baggage Car and a member of Windsor Presbyterian Church. As a noted expert on Hallmark Collectibles, Meredith was the author and publisher of "Price Guide to Hallmark Ornaments."

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Hal DeGood; two daughters, Martha (David) Nelson of Novi, MI, and Nancy (Peter) Canning of Overland Park, KS; brothers, Paul McElhinney of Morning Sun and Robert McElhinney of Morrison, IL; and four grandchildren, Amanda and Stephen Nelson and Erin and Mallory Canning. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother.

Visitation is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today, October 29 at Brooks Funeral Care-University Chapel in Clive. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross.
