Judith A. Strait, 64, of rural Norwalk, died December 4, 2004 of cancer at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 8 at Trinity Baptist Church, 4600 SW 26th Street in Des Moines. Burial will be held at North River Cemetery in rural Norwalk.

Judith was born January 1, 1940 in Iowa City, IA. She grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Lincoln High School. Judith lived on the south side of Des Moines until moving to Warren County in 1975. She was a bank teller for 1st Interstate Bank and a bookkeeper for the family business, Strait Transmission Service.

First and foremost, Judith was a wife and mother. She devoted her life to her husband and children. She enjoyed crafting and quilting and touched many lives with her beautiful quilts.

Judith is survived by her husband, Richard H. Strait; daughter, Debora (Randy) Simpson and their children, Joshua, Gabrielle, Joel and Jacob of rural Norwalk; son, Richard Lee (Carmen) Strait and their children, Emily, Elizabeth, David and Benjamin of Steamboat Springs, CO; son, Danny (Jill) Strait and their son, Kolten of Denver, CO; brothers, L. Dwaine Hill, C. Gene Hill, Rick Post and Larry Underwood; and sisters, Beverly Love, Mary Jo Gibson and Sandra Potter.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Iola Underwood; father, Lawrence Hill; brothers, Donald and George; and sister, Karen Navarro.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be used according to the wishes of the family.
