Joan Olson Joan Karen Olson, 63, died Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Joan was born on September 24, 1941 in Eldora to Clarence and Adelaide (Hauge) Tysdahl. She graduated from Radcliffe High School in 1959. Joan is survived by her children, Greg (Lorie) Olson of Bellevue, NE, Steve (Whitney) Olson of Santa Rosa, CA, Cindy Martin of Boone and Mary Elizabeth "Dodi" (Dennis) Reilly of Morris Plaine, NJ; ten loving grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn Rutzen of Iowa Falls and Elizabeth (Orlen) Stolee of Garden City; three brothers, Everett Tysdahl of New Richmond, WI, Alvern (Cynthia) Tysdahl of Hubbard and Larry Tysdahl of Toledo; and many loving nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; her brother-in-law, Robert Rutzen; and two nephews. A reception for family and friends will be held at the Gateway Center in Ames from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, October 21. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Stavanger Lutheran Church in Garden City, with a luncheon following at the Garden City Community Building. The Neptune Society is handling to cremation.
