Helen Ellsworth

Helen Irene (Sager) Ellsworth, 85, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2004 at the Kavanagh House on 56th Street with cancer.

Helen was born July 31, 1919 to Arthur and Anna (Garretson) Sager. She graduated from Promise City High School. She attended college at Kirksville, MO to become a teacher. She taught several rural schools before her marriage to Wilbur Ellsworth on December 24, 1952. She moved to Tarkio, MO to assist her husband with his bee business and selling honey to various locations. She loved to cook, sew and garden.

Helen became a Christian at an early age and taught Children's Sunday School for many years.

She is survived by two brothers, Ralph (Karen) Sager of Ham Lake, MN, LeRoy (Betty) Sager of Key West, FL; one sister, Verna Osborn of Des Moines, IA, a sister-in-law, Susie Sager of Seymour, IA; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur, her parents, brother Harold and his wife Irene Sager and brother Dean Sager all of Seymour, IA.

Helen came to Des Moines to live with her sister in October 2001.

Memorial service will be held at a later date in Seymour, IA.
