Floyd Turner Floyd H. Turner, 86, died October 2, 2004 of an aneurysm. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, October 7 at Brooks Funeral Care-University Chapel, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Floyd was born in Granger, IA, and lived all of his life in Des Moines. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1937 to 1945 and a 50 year member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #33, retiring in 1981. Floyd belonged to East Gate Masonic Lodge #630, Des Moines Consistory and American Legion-Baldwin Patterson #274. He was an avid "Old West" fan and enjoyed boating, traveling and hunting. Floyd is survived by his wife, Geraldyne Turner of Des Moines; daughter, Kathryn (John) Barakat of Clive; sons, Jon (Deborah) Turner of Runnells and Jeffry (Patricia) Turner of Des Moines; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 6 at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or the Animal Rescue League. |
