Anthony Diaz

Anthony Prado Diaz, 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 13 at Mercy Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of which he was a member.

Anthony was born August 24, 1929 in Valley Junction, IA., where he resided all of his life. He attended Valley High School in West Des Moines and served in the U.S. Marine Corps and the Air Force reserves. He owned and operated Anthony's Hairstyling and Barber shop for over fifty years.

He will be missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Velma; and their seven children, Mario, Raul, Ron, Doug, Tony, Julie Diaz-Nichols, Denise Diaz; and his sister, Lupe Diaz-Garcia; and eight grandchildren, Anthony, Maria, Michael, Katherine, Christian, Danielle, Alex and Nathan.

Anthony loved life, music and being surrounded by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday at the church with a vigil at 8:00 p.m.
